The Belgian press obviously know their stuff after a newspaper correctly predicted several highly rated youngsters who would go on to star for the national team… 11 years ago!

Marc Wilmots’ Belgium side sealed their place at next summer’s World Cup after a 2-1 win over Croatia in Zagreb last week.

But it seems several members of the squad who starred in that win – including two-goal hero Romelu Lukaku – have always been destined for big things.

You’ll see in this image that the newspaper tipped 15 players to reach the top – and they were right as every single one featured has made the national side and starred for top clubs around Europe.

It’s a particularly good prediction given Lukaku and Eden Hazard would only have been 9 and 11-years-old at the time of writing.

World football might only now be seeing the best of Belgium’s Golden Generation, but it seems their homeland has known all about them for a while.
