Too hard to separate at Tynecastle

Previous between the sides points to the draw.
The first pick of the day comes at Tynecastle where Hearts welcome Inverness just weeks after the Tynecastle club knocked the Highlanders out of the Scottish League Cup semi-final on penalties. We backed that game and a 1-1 scoreline meant our draw bet came in and we’re looking in the exact same place this week as the sides square up with eight points separating them in the league. Under John McGlynn, Hearts have struggled for consistency this season and languish in 10th place as we approach the close of the campaign. The former Raith Rovers manager has had to contend with doubt over the club’s finances as well as lead a team which only seems to be getting younger. John Sutton is their top scorer with five goals, but behind him there isn’t much experience or inspiration to drag Hearts out the mire. Inverness, on the other hand, have been inspired under Terry Butcher as they look to record their best league finish in the club’s short history. Where Hearts have struggled for goals, Inverness haven’t had such problems with Billy McKay finding the net 17 times in the league, dovetailed by the threat of nine-goal Andrew Shinnie and eight-goal Richie Foran – who misses out on Saturday. That said, their recent away form hasn’t been great so they’ll be far from expecting a win in the capital. Significantly, five of the last seven games between the teams has finished as a draw and we can’t see anything else happening on Saturday afternoon. So, at 23/10, we’re backing a DRAW between Hearts and Inverness in our first selection of the day.
Barnsley ready to go
Barnsley have turned a corner.
The form team of the npower Championship are our next pick as they go away to division basement boys Bristol City. David Flitcroft’s Barnsley side struggled in the bottom three for much of the season, but have put together an outstanding recent run of form which has seen them pick up 25 points from their last available 30. Previous form against Bristol City suggests it may be a tough game with City just edging it, but the home team are in far from inspired form and it’d be difficult to see them taking anything but a defeat from this one. They’ve been good at home of late, but haven’t lost two on the bounce. Sean O’Driscoll has certainly got a reaction since taking over in January, yet it may not be enough to see them avoid what now seems to be an inevitable relegation. It’ll be a tough game for BARNSLEY, but we’re confident they can get the win at 17/10 and see this Double Dunter home.
So for the Double we’ve backed two close games. Position in the league suggests Inverness will beat Hearts, but previous meetings between the two proves that they’ve always been hard to separate. Barnsley are the form team and can heap further pressure on Bristol City, representing good odds and an ideal selection to go with the draw. At 7.91/1, it’s a long shot – why not take a risk? .
Good luck!
