TALKING TREBLE

We’ve found it difficult of late to get that one stroke of luck. Our Boxing Day tips were hampered by a Watford call-off, but killed by a drab Inverness draw at home which nobody expected. We’re hopeful that if we can get that one big treble then it can pave the way for a run of bets.

This week we’ve gone for a tip in the Championship and League One as well as a final one from the Scottish Premier League. It’s short odds again, but we’re very confident that all three teams can bring the wins home. With any luck we’ll go into 2013 building upon our £76 profit for the month of December. #GameOn

Bellamy and Helguson to be the Cardiff-erence

The Cardiff captain has a big impact on the team.

The first pick of the day comes in the npower Championship as Cardiff City look to extend their lead at the top of the league against Millwall at home. Malky McKay’s side have been in superb form this season and have lost only once in their last nine games. With a talented squad led by the experienced duo of Craig Bellamy and Heider Helguson up-front, Cardiff would cause most Premier League side’s problems, but they have a job to do in getting out of the Championship and will expect to take all three points at home against a Millwall team devoid of inspiration. After going on a 10-game unbeaten run spanning almost two months, they’ve won just one of their last five slipping out of the promotion places and in danger of dropping into mid-table mediocrity. The home side won 2-0 at the Den in September and we have to back them to do similar in Saturday’s return fixture. Odds of 3/4 are good for an in-form team such as CARDIFF so make sure you get on that in some way. If you’re feeling ambitious then perhaps backing them on a -1 handicap at 19/10 is more appealing.

Have the Bees got the sting to go top of the league?

Will Rosler be all smiles on Saturday?

Brentford travel to Shrewsbury in the npower League One looking to record their fifth straight win on the bounce. Uwe Rosler’s side sit third in the league just two points behind top of the table Sheffield United, but with one game in hand over them after last weekend’s postponed game. A Boxing Day win away to Coventry has the Bees in confident mood and with no fresh injury concerns, and only Tom Adeyemi missing out through suspension, they have a full squad to pick from. Contrastingly, Shrewsbury will be sweating on the health of five-goal midfielder Paul Parry, but know they will definitely be missing Ryan Doble in attack due to a broken hand. They’ve picked up seven points from the last available 18 and are perilously close to the relegation zone sitting just three points away from Portsmouth in 21st. The form suggests BRENTFORD have far too much for their opponents, despite going away from home, and we’re sure they’ll be doing everything possible to grab three points which can take them one step closer to hitting the summit of League One. At 11/10, we have to back the away side in the second selection of our Talking Treble.

Motherwell red-hot for home win

Jamie Murphy’s double against Aberdeen at Boxing Day was superb. Can he do it again?

On form Motherwell welcome Kilmarnock to Fir Park in what should be a closely contested affair. Stuart McCall’s men are flying high in the SPL, joint second with Inverness so far, and have found some impressive form of late. They go into this one full of confidence after a convincing 4-1 win against Aberdeen on Boxing Day. Their opponents, Kilmarnock, enjoyed a good victory against Hearts at home on Wednesday and will provide a tough test for The Steelmen. The only downside for Killie is the loss of captain Manuel Pascali and defender Mohamadou Sissoko, who miss out due to injury. Motherwell are at full strength and buoyed by the performances of strikers Michael Higdon and Jamie Murphy, should be too strong at home for Kilmarnock. At odds of 10/11, we have plumped for a MOTHERWELL win on our Saturday treble.

If you are looking for a riskier double this weekend, the prices in League One are always encouraging. In the riskier of our bets this weekend, we have gone for two away wins for Crewe and Doncaster. Doncaster had an awesome start to the season but have fallen away in recent weeks. Tomorrow could be the day they get their season back on track away to a Preston side languishing below them in the table. At odds of 11/5, it is hard to ignore! Double this up with Crewe at odds of 17/10 and you are looking at a considerable return of 8.64/1. Good luck and #GameOn!
