We’re still up by £76 after two tremendous bets to get December off to a bang. Now, we’ve reined it in slightly as we pick a safer double for you to get on top of. Few games included in Scotland this weekend as a combination of bad, potentially damaging, weather and a lack of value stopped us from backing anything. The double is good value though, especially for those looking to bet big before the festive period. #GameOn
Crewe ready to Bury opponents
Dalla Valle extending his loan is a big boost for Crewe.
The first match of the Saturday double dunter comes at Alexandra Stadium where Crewe Alexandra welcomes Bury in the npower League One. It’s a meeting of the form side of League One and one of the teams struggling already to move away from the relegation places. Crewe are on a good run of form, losing just four games in the last 16 in all competitions and will be buoyed by the move to extend Lauri Dalla Valle’s loan deal from Fulham. The Finish forward has four goals in five games and will be the one to watch for the away side. Bury won’t be confident of gaining much from a tough game as they miss several key players following the FA Cup defeat to Southend United in midweek. They’ve lost four of their last six and you’d have to go back to 2009 to find the last time Bury beat Crewe in competitive football. CREWE are desperate for their third win on the bounce and we’d be very hard pushed to bet against them in this one so, for that reason, we’re backing the home side at 11/10.
Orient to extend their winning streak
Can Slade take Orient towards the top?
Without doubt the in-form team of League One is Leyton Orient as they look to extend their six-game winning run against Scunthorpe United on Saturday. Russell Slade’s side won 2-0 at Bury in midweek and go in to this one supremely confident of putting in a performance good enough for the win. Slade has an almost fully fit squad to pick from which isn’t quite the case for Brian Laws at Scunthorpe. They will almost certainly miss the presence of the experienced goal scorer Nathan Ellington – who was brought in to replace top scorer Leon Clarke – but will see Paul Reid return to the fold. They languish in 23rd place and their last trip away ended in a 4-0 hammering to Doncaster, but they will do everything in their power to get the win. The form of ORIENT is just too hard to look past though and Scunthorpe’s poor league performance coupled with some devastating injuries means we’re backing a home win at 11/10 to complete this double dunter.
We’re going back to basics with this double. Crewe could be on the cusp of a great run and will use a side like Leyton Orient as inspiration of what hard work can achieve. Russell Slade’s men thoroughly deserve their winning streak and, although it will one day, we don’t see it coming to an end this weekend. Short odds of 4.41/1 is perfect for the punters looking to bet big and get an even bigger return just before Christmas. For the more conservative punters, you could use it a building block to something bigger on Sunday when we give you our next instalment of Talking Tips.
If anyone is looking for a risky bet to add as a treble though then we’d suggest Falkirk at home to Cowdenbeath at odds of 4/5 with Ladbrokes. Steven Pressley’s side look to have found a little bit of form and Colin Cameron’s Cowden side are on a poor run of results so a home win, if the game beats the cold snap, is our optional tip.
