TALKING TREBLE

It’s game day two in World Cup qualifying and we’ve got another talking treble for you all. There are some appealing fixtures tonight with England hosting Ukraine and Scotland welcoming FYR Macedonia in a must-win game for Craig Levein. However, both sides are expected to win and it’s outside the UK where we’ve looked to make up our treble.

There’s No-rway they’ll lose tonight!

Hangeland is Norway’s big game player!

The first of our midweek tips takes in Norway as they host Slovenia in Group E. Norway go into this one on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Iceland, making it a must win match for the Norwegians. Similarly, the Slovenians were defeated 2-0 at home to Switzerland and they need to pick up some points. A defeat for either team would severely diminish their chances of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup. Considering home advantage for Norway, a stronger squad to choose from and the fact that Slovenia have never beaten the Norwegians home or away, we fancy them to win at odds of 10/11.

Iceland isn’t a nice land!

Iceland rely on Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Our second game takes in another match in Group E as Cyprus welcome Iceland. Iceland go into this one full of confidence after a convincing 2-0 defeat of Norway in the first round of games. Cyprus, on the other hand, were defeated 3-1 by Albania and look the weaker of the two teams. They have no real players of quality in their team and could struggle at home to a well set up Iceland side. Tottenham Hotspur’s Gylfi Sigurdsson is the main man for Iceland and should he find his form could be too hot to handle for Cyprus. At odds of 9/5 we are going for an away win for Iceland in this one.

Will Spain bring the pain?

The current World and Euro champions will be too good for Georgia.

Our final match looks at Spain versus Georgia. On the back of a good friendly win against Saudi Arabia on Friday, Spain go into this one full of confidence, looking to build upon their great summer. They really need no introduction as we all know how good a team they are. They travel to Georgia tonight and the odds of a victory are well in their favour. We fancy them to win, and to do so quite comfortably, so we have chosen a handicap result of Spain to win -2 goals at odds of 10/11.

The risky pick is Iceland away from home. Despite their cracking start, and talented team, travelling to Cyprus will be difficult so they must be firing on all cylinders. Norway are a capable team who should wake up and realise they have to win tonight and Spain will be too hot for Georgia to handle. Odds of 10/1 show a considerable risk, but it’s one we think could be worth backing.

Talkingbaws Tips:

£5 Treble: NORWAY v Slovenia (10/11), ICELAND v Cyprus (9/5) & SPAIN -2 v Georgia (10/11) – 10.2/1 (Returns £56)
